Small Projects Estimator 
(Construction Division)

Purpose and Scope 

The Small Projects Estimator works in collaboration with the Business Developer to fulfill leads and pricing requirements that fall within Blauch Brothers small projects group. In addition, the Small Projects Estimator works collaboratively with other estimators, BBI Service Department, project managers, designers and engineers as well as outside vendors and owners to review drawings and job specifications when provided, compiling comprehensive pricing for small projects. As Small Projects Estimator, your role will be crucial as we grow our pool of direct to owner work. Additional tasks must be performed as assigned/requested by Blauch Brothers, Inc., Pre-Construction Manager.

Schedule: Typical work hours are Monday - Friday, 8 to 9.5 hours daily, working 43 - 47

Responsibilities

​

  • Collaborate with owners, vendors, job superintendents, project managers, engineers and others on efforts that align with our Company mission and vision.

  • Ensure accurate estimates are submitted within specific time frame.

  • Check all forms of communication for proper follow up on estimated work.

  • Compile and process quotes from vendors and sub-contractors.

  • Meet and work with customers to go over needs, research products, design projects, present quotes, and follow up on presented quotes as appropriate.

  • Work with Sr. Estimator to determine priorities of work for quoted jobs.

  • Provide close collaboration and clearly communicate with Construction and Service Business Developers to strengthen our customer pool and develop ways to deliver exceptional value.

  • Maintain follow up process with Project Manager to identify opportunities for improvement and lessons learned that contribute to customer satisfaction.

  • Attend project update meetings, estimating meetings and review labor reports.

  • Responsible to review and understand labor reports with Project Management team.

  • Attend networking and promotional events.

  • Attend owner trainings for construction projects in the geographic region assigned.

  • Complete assigned Departmental strategic initiatives to support business goals.

  • Work with Estimating Team to improve workflow process.

  • Participate in annual review of work performance.

  • Annual customer/prospect evaluation with Business Developers, Sr. Quality Assurance Coordinator, Estimators, and Accounting to determine if they are in alignment with BBI’s ideal customer profile.

  • Work seamlessly and collaboratively with Service HVAC and Plumbing supervisors to determine jobs that can be quoted through small projects.

  • Coordinate the handoff of projects awarded with Operations Manager and Special Projects PM.

  • Work with Field Operations (Construction Division) to ensure that drawings, materials, and equipment are handed to the OM in a timely manner with proper documentation.

  • Provide leadership regarding safety regulations and policies including utilizing and instructing others in the safe and appropriate use of tools required for the job.

  • Identify and implement cost effective procedures as appropriate.

  • Assist with all bid day activities.

  • Research and recommend procedures in the continuous improvement of the estimating process.

  • Assist with drafting and/or pricing Service Department projects as needed.

  • Supports and participates in The Unified Group, trade and peer groups, attends training events, communicates via email and supports participating members.

  • Collaborate with Operations Manager and Project Manager to create a seamless process for “pull through” revenue between construction clients and Service Dept.

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and improve business operations.

Salary:  $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year (Depending on qualifications & Experience)

Additional Requirements

Valid Virginia driver's license required along with an acceptable driving record, as defined by our insurer. Must have or pass an acceptable criminal background check
