HVAC COMMISSIONING TECHNICIAN 
Construction Division

Purpose and Scope:

 

We are seeking a skilled Commissioning Technician to provide exceptional commissioning, start-up, service, and repair to our industrial and commercial customers in west central Virginia. As a Commissioning Technician, you will not only deliver high-quality service and repair work, but also serve as a crucial link between our customers and our company. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, requiring versatility and proficiency. You must be capable of installing and servicing various commercial systems such as chillers, boilers, VRF, and more. Building trust with customers through effective communication, providing solutions, and demonstrating empathy is essential. As the face of our company, your professionalism and dedication will uphold our reputation. Additionally, you will assist in other assigned tasks as directed by your supervisor.

 

Normal Work Schedule:

This position typically requires 40-45 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, with daily shifts of 10-11 hours. Blauch Brothers, Inc. Small Projects Supervisor may adjust the hours as necessary to meet customer needs.

 

Responsibilities:

Daily:

  • Coordinate with project managers, sheet metal foremen, plumbing foremen, and field supervisors to ensure the status of HVAC equipment installation and project schedule.

  • Perform equipment start-up once correctly installed by construction crews.

  • Troubleshoot issues with HVAC/plumbing equipment as they arise.

  • Handle warranty calls for started-up equipment.

  • Follow company policies outlined in the employee handbook and maintain a professional appearance.

  • Plan and organize the work site to meet priorities, goals, and allocated man-hours.

  • Perform all work according to BBI standards.

  • Maintain safety standards and adhere to safety policies, including the proper use of tools.

  • Communicate effectively with customers, including business owners, property managers, maintenance managers, project managers, and foremen.

Weekly:

  • Properly care for and maintain company-owned property, ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are secured at the end of each day.

  • Attend the weekly Thursday morning manpower meeting.

 

Monthly:

  • Participate in department safety meetings.

 

Annually:

  • Take part in the annual self-review process.

 

General:

  • Attend start-up and closeout meetings.

  • Verify proper equipment installation by visiting projects requiring start-up.

  • Review blueprints, submittals, and O&M's for equipment being started up.

  • Fill out start-up reports and maintain detailed notes.

  • Assist in generating RFI's/change orders as needed.

  • Coordinate and assist manufacturer reps when required for start-up.

  • Collaborate with subcontractors as necessary.

  • Provide a comprehensive list of equipment details to the Preventative Maintenance salesman for generating quotes.

  • Support and participate in trade and peer groups, attend training events, and engage in communication with other members.

  • Willingness to attend manufacturer-specific training.

  • Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and openness to change.
